Interview

11 05 2007

The team got together today for an interview with Kent Uni’s student Newspaper InQuire!, look out for us in the next issue in about 2 weeks time.

T-Shirt sales continue, if you would like to buy a team t-shirt they cost £18, with the proceeds going to the charities.

Also remember, if you donate more than £2 through our justgiving.com websites your name will be put on the outside of the car as it drives through Europe. You can donate to any of the charities you wish through the “Charities” link above. It’s all done safe and secure through Justgiving and your money goes straight to the chosen charity. (plus if you are an income tax payer, justgiving can reclaim the tax on your donation at no extra cost to you!!)

Should have some footage of the taxi running around and working soon so keep an eye out.

Is your Taxi a genuine Taxi?

9 05 2007

Is your Taxi a genuine Taxi? Make sure it has wheels, petrol cap and steering wheel…
This is an example of a non-genuine Taxi, does your taxi look like this? Well, this poor person thought he had a genuine taxi. You know what it turned out to be? A bag. Yes, a bag. I know, I know, its so well disguised, but that’s what happens if you don’t do the checks.

Just because we have nothing new to report at the moment, doesn’t mean we can’t make a post.

The Taxi has made it to Canterbury

5 05 2007

We’ve got it!!!! It’s here in Canterbury!!!! Its great!!!!!

We collected the taxi this morning from Southend, while Chris, Rhiannon and Jas did the money exchange, I was shown everything that was wrong with it and got my first ride in the taxi. Afterwards Chris drove it the 80 something miles to Canterbury with myself following in a 2nd car (just in case) but fortunately nothing major went wrong. Although after just 5 minutes Chris broke a window, we have also used tape in a few places.

But its all good now with the taxi here with us!! Below are a few shots, I’ve put the rest in the new “Gallery” page on the site (more to come)

One small step for Taxi, one giant leap for Team SNH

3 05 2007

We did it!!!!

At the unearthly hour of 10am, Team SNH bundled into a car and drove to Southend to view a classic London cab, there we experienced the highs and lows of used car sales. We looked it over, and for an 18 year old vehicle it was in good condition……and at exactly 21:52:06 BST today we bought it!!!! We have a taxi!!!!!!

The team will be driving back to Southend in our own “support car” to pick it up and get it back to Canterbury. I’ve already packed my toolkit….and my RAC card….expecting the worst as we drive 50miles in it back home.

First driving privileges haven’t been made yet but I reckon our illustrious leader, Reesy, with have first honours on its maiden voyage as Team SNH’s Gumball rally car and I’ll be driving the support car loaded with the tools when it all goes wrong on the Dartford crossing (not that I’m worried of course, in fact i’ve had nothing but good luck with 4 used cars…so might run out on Saturday eeek!)

Pictures below, we took some video diary footage of it to which will make it up on the site one day.

Driving in style don’t you think :)

Bear Taxi

2 05 2007

The team is still waiting to find the taxi of our dreams to take us 3500 miles (though I was working on the route last night and I was getting more than 3500 :S ).

Anyway, to keep you all amused I found another taxi image, I thought it would be good to run a caption competition on this one. So any captions, put in the comments, comments are moderated at the moment cos I don’t know how to switch it off, when I do, I will :)

[EDIT] ok comment moderation is off, i think, unless your spamming us, in that case its on :P
